Description:

Full-bodied red with an excellent backbone and balance. It has notes of ripe, red fruits blended with leather and tobacco.

Recommended Pairings:

This is a great stand alone wine that can be enjoyed in front of the fireplace with a good book in late fall and wintertime..

With food, the higher acidity makes it a great pair with charcuterie boards, fatty meats like pork belly, sausages, and lamb. It also pairs well with heavier pastas and chicken dishes, meat stews, grilled vegetables, and mushroom dishes.

In the Cellar:

Fermented with the skins on in fiberglass tanks, then aged in used oak barrels for 16-24 months.

Made with select grapes hand-harvest from the top parcel of our Sangiovese vineyard, resulting in a total of less than 200 cases per year.

Special Note: Due to the waiting period between requesting and receiving official organic certification, our Poggio Pastene Reserve is our only wine still available commercially that is not officially certified organic. However, we have been using organic farming practices since our very first vines were planted including bottles that were produced before we received our certification in 2019.
